Moto G EMI Scheme on Flipkart

The Moto G is on fire in India because of it’s competitive pricing on Flipkart. Reports say that it got sold out in less than 15 minutes when it was first put on sale! Now it’s back for sale on Flipkart and is available for ₹12,499 (8GB) and ₹13,999 (16GB). However, there is a 10 – 20 day waiting for the 16GB variant.

If you are planning to buy (or book) this phone, but don’t want to pay the full amount right now, you can go in for an EMI scheme on cards issued by HDFC, ICICI, Citibank or American Express at zero processing fees. However, an interest will be levied as shown below on the total price of the phone, and your EMIs will be based on the final amount including interest.

I dont have a credit card… bt have a debit card and i would like to purchase moto g asap.. are there any other options on emi.

Hi Sukesh. You can definitely use your HDFC debit card to buy this phone, but you won’t be able to avail any EMI scheme on Flipkart. However, some banks allow converting debit card spends into EMIs irrespective of the merchant. We would suggest you to talk to HDFC’s customer care about this if your primary concern is to avail an EMI scheme using this card of yours.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

Hi Nitish. Moto G is currently available only on Flipkart, and on Flipkart, you can avail an EMI scheme only on credit cards of American Express Bank, ICICI bank, Citibank and HDFC Bank. You may still be able to go in for an EMI scheme on your HDFC debit card, but for that you’ll have to call HDFC’s customer care to get more details. You can call this number to talk to HDFC’s customer care in Punjab: 0-9815-33-1111.

Note that you might have to pay some processing fees in this case. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

I have a debit card from icici bank. I am already paying emi for car loan. Now i need loan for Nokia X on emi. Can i get it.

    • Cardback

Hi Ram. It doesn’t matter if there is any other EMI running parallely. If you are considering flipkart to buy your phone, flipkart is offering EMI schemes only on certain credit cards. If you want convert your debit card purchases into EMIs. We would request you to call your bank’s customer care in order to have clarity on this process.

Note: You might need to pay processing fees or down payment as part of this process.

  • masood

Hi, i have icici bank debit card, but i dont have any credit card to avail EMI.pls suggest how can i but this phone on EMI without credit card.

    • Cardback

Hi Masood. From Flipkart’s side, you can avail an EMI scheme only on credit cards of American Express Bank, ICICI bank, Citibank and HDFC Bank. However, if you would like to go in for an EMI on your ICICI debit card, we would request you to call ICICI’s customer care to get specific details about EMIs on your card. Note that you might have to pay some processing fee in this case.

  • ankur pradhan

Hi, i have hdfc credit card. Want to buy moto e through emi. Please inform me step by step procedure to obtain the product from flipkart. Is there any downpayment? If yes how. If one month emi bounces anyhow, where to deposit? Plz reply.

    • Cardback

Hi Ankur. To pay via EMIs using your HDFC credit card, first you need to add the product to your card on Flipkart. Select the delivery address and confirm the order summary. After that, under ‘Payment Method’, select EMI, then select HDFC, and then the EMI tenture (3-months, 6-months etc). After that you will be redirected to a payment gateway where you can pay using your card.

The full amount won’t be debited from your card in this case, but your card’s credit limit will get temporarily reduced by an amount equal to the cost of the phone. As you keep paying your EMIs every month, the blocked portion of the credit limit will keep getting released till all the EMIs are paid in full and on time.

All EMIs will come as a part of your credit card statement, so EMIs can’t ‘bounce’ in the actual sense in this case. However, if you default on paying your credit card’s bill on time, you will be charged extra interest as per your bank’s terms and conditions. If you can tell us the exact name of the card you hold, we can give you more accurate information on this.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

    • Cardback

      Hi Nirmal,
There is no such condition on Flipkart which says that you can’t buy more than one Moto G per card. We would suggest you to contact your bank regarding this as this might be due to some policy issue with the bank or the card. We would love to know what the bank tells you.
Please let us know if you have more questions.

    Hi flipcart
i have SBI debit card and want to buy MOTO G 2nd gen and i would like to go for EMI option, can i get that option also today i have spoken to flipcart cust care and they told that i can get it.
Will you explain it so could go for that easily.

    • Cardback

Hi Rishav. Flipkart’s EMI scheme holds good only for credit cards issued by HDFC, ICICI, Citibank, Amex and SBI. You won’t be able to convert your SBI debit card purchase into EMIs through Flipkart. However, we would advise you to call your bank’s customer care and ask them the procedure for converting spends on your debit card into EMIs. There is a huge possibility that they will give you an option for that. However, you may have to pay some additional processing fees to avail that option. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

  • aganth

I’m an icici bank user and i would like to buy asus zenfone 5 worth of Rs.9999 through emi for 12 months. How should I get it and i dont have a credit card. please help me out.

    • Cardback

Hi Aganth. ICICI has recently begun supporting EMI on debit cards for customers who have at least one fixed deposit linked to their account. However, that holds true for transactions of Rs. 10,000 or more. Do you have plans of increasing your budget by a little bit to meet that threshold? If yes, then we can give you more information on how to go about doing this.

    • Cardback

Hi Latha. If you buy a Moto G from Flipkart, you won’t be able to avail EMI facility on your debit card. This is valid only on credit cards. However, you bank may allow you to avail EMIs on your debit card outside of Flipkart. We would recommend that you call up SBI’s customer care to get more specific about this related to your account. Please note that you may have to incur additional charges in this case. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

    • Cardback

Hi Koteswar. If you are buying Moto G from Flipkart with your ICICI debit card, then you won’t get any EMI option from Flipkart on your card. That is valid only for credit cards. However, ICICI has a separate EMI scheme for debit cards which is valid if you have at least one fixed deposit with the bank. We would suggest you to talk to ICICI’s customer care about this to get more details specific to your account. Please note that you may have to pay some additional processing charges under this scheme, so make sure that you ask them about the fee structure in depth. Please let us know if you have more questions.

    • Cardback

Hi Koteswar. The principle amount that you want to convert into EMIs should be 90% of the amount of your FD. So, if you’re buying a Moto G for Rs. 13,000, then the value of your FD should be at least Rs. 14,500. Please let us know if you have more questions.

  • sudarshan

I want to buy moto g mobil on emi basis…in my card i have balance 8000..hdfc bank….how much minimum balance should be in credit card???and when i buy on emi basis starting how much money il be charged full payment orwht????

    • Cardback

Hi Sudarshan. The available balance in your credit card should be equal to or more than the cost of your phone at the time of purchase. After converting your purchase into EMIs, an amount equal to the cost of your phone will be blocked from your card’s credit limit, but you won’t be charged the full amount. You will only be charged the downpayment if any along with that month’s EMI. There after, you will be charged an amount equal to your EMI every month and the amount that was blocked on your card will keep getting reduced accordingly. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

    • Cardback

Hi Prabu. If you are buying Sony Ultra T2 from Flipkart with your ICICI debit card, then you won’t get any EMI option from Flipkart on your card. That is valid only for credit cards. However, ICICI has a separate EMI scheme for debit cards which is valid if you have at least one fixed deposit with the bank. The principle amount that you want to convert into EMIs should be 90% of the amount of your fixed deposit. So, if you’re buying a phone for Rs. 13,000, then the value of your FD should be at least Rs. 14,500. We would suggest you to talk to ICICI’s customer care about this to get more details specific to your account. Please note that you may have to pay some additional processing charges under this scheme, so make sure that you ask them about the fee structure in depth. Hope this helps. • vinay

I would like to buy moto g on emi with my credit card(icici) . there it was asking to enter HIGH TRANSACTION AMOUNT what should i enter

    • Cardback

Hi Vinay. For us to be able to give you a more accurate answer, can you please give us some more details on where were you being asked to enter this high transaction amount?

        • Cardback

Hi Vinay. In most probability, that refers to the transaction size you want to convert into EMIs which in this case is the cost of your new phone. We’re assuming that you are asked to enter this value after you select your EMI tenure on the 3D secure page where you enter your card’s PIN / OTP. If it’s some other screen, please let us know which one. It will also help us answer your question more accurately if you can send us a screenshot of the screen at swipe@cardback.in, if you’re comfortable with it.

    • Cardback

Hi Jekesh. If you buy a phone from Flipkart using your SBI debit card, you won’t be able to avail their EMI facility. That’s only for credit cards. However, if you speak to SBI about converting your purchase into EMIs, they might be able to do that for you at their end. But please note that you may have to pay some additional processing fees in that case.

One good news is that your SBI debit card will give you a discount of 10% if you purchase your phone from Flipkart on or before Oct 21, 2014. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

    • Cardback

Hi Shruthi. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do that through Flipkart. However, after you’ve made your purchase on Flipkart, you can speak to Axis about converting your purchase into EMIs, they might be able to do that for you at their end. Please note that you may have to pay some additional processing fees in that case. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions.

  • Akshay

i have icici bank credit card,i want to purchase moto g but i want some detailed ……is there necessary to have money in my account more than the cost of that mobile…

    • Cardback

Hi Akshay. The available credit limit in your credit card should be equal to or more than the price of the phone you’re about to purchase. There is no mandate on the amount of money in your bank account. That will matter only when you have to pay the due for the credit card’s statement, which should be at least 15 – 20 days away from the date of your purchase. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

    • Cardback

Hi Narasimha. You can definitely use your debit card to buy a Moto E, but you won’t be able to avail any EMI scheme on it for now. Are you looking for any EMI schemes too?
